| A Michigan bred is defined as:
A
Thoroughbred foaled in Michigan whose dam has complied with all state
regulations and has remained for not less than 7 months of that foaling
year within the state.
A Michigan accredited bred is eligible for breeders awards, owners
awards and state supplements for restricted races.

Mare Registration Forms
Required information is the name of the mare, registration number,
farm stabled and date bred. Forms need to be in by February 15th
of each year.

Stallion Registration Forms
Required information is the name of the horse, registration number
and where the stallion is stabled. Forms need to be in by January
1st of each year.

Foal Registration Forms
This form must be submitted to receive certification of a Michigan
bred foal. After the foal has been registered and named with the
Jockey Club,
a copy of the registration papers must be submitted with the Foal
Registration form to the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The
Michigan Department of Agriculture then endorses this registration copy
after it has certified the proper registration of the dam of the foal.
The endorsed copy is then returned to be attached to the original foal
certificate.

Sire Stakes Nomination Forms
This form needs to be filed before December 31st of the weanling
year so that a foal resulting from breeding to a Michigan sire can
be eligible to participate in the Michigan Sire Stakes races.
